Sophia Quinn

Vermont artist, passionate about portraying the natural world.

Growing up next to Shelburne Farms, I was surrounded by so much immense beauty. My mother worked there and my best friend lived on the farm so my play ground became the farm’s fields and barns full of cows, sheep and chickens. As you can imagine, I was easily inspired by so much natural beauty. I was captivated by the farm animal’s features; the way feathers layered on a chicken’s neck or how wool mated around a sheep’s thick horns. Animal eyes always interested me the most, how their stare was intense and fierce, expressing a deep emotion.

This natural fascination has driven me to create animal portraiture from observation and study. I work primarily in color pencil and acrylic paints but enjoy branching out and exploring new mediums to capture the essence of the animal I am portraying. Being able to create a piece of art that brings joy and comfort to those who have a special creature they love brings me so much of my joy and happiness.

If you are interested in prints or cards of my existing work or wish to purchase an original piece, my contact information is listed bellow, I would love to talk.
